VOL. 8   /  READY FOR IT

Have we said thank you? Because we’re really grateful you’re here. (get it?)

We’re just getting started, and it means a heck of a lot that you’re reading right now. We love this city and all it has to offer – and we know you do, too. So, thank you.

Now get out there!

November

Project

You’re going to think we’re crazy for this one… The November Project is a free weekly workout held outside at the VMFA every Wednesday at 6am. Yup, the crack of dawn. In the cold, rain, heat, snow. It's awesome.

Hundreds - at all fitness levels - come out for the mix of running and body-weight exercises, led by an entertaining/crazy-in-a-good-way trio. The biggest obstacle is showing up, but once you’re there, it kicks off strong with a group bounce and some healthy yelling. Trust.

As added motivation, the group is hosting Friendsgiving at The Daily immediately following this Wednesday’s workout!

Games

Sports! We’re not going to pick teams – let’s just say we’re pro-venue. The small but mighty VCU Siegel Center and UR Robins Stadium make the action feel all the more intense. We’re fans.

Friday night’s VCU vs. UVA men's basketball match-up is sold out (grrr) unless you’re willing to StubHub it. Fortunately, the season is just getting underway, with tickets to lots of home games available.

Saturday, UR’s football team plays William & Mary to wrap the season’s home games; just a handful of tickets is left. Next up: UR basketball!

Anyone got Final Four predictions?!

Taste

So we’ve known about Secco. One bite of their fried chickpeas and you’ll never forget this neighborhood joint. We knew they moved from Carytown to the perfect Fan corner. But somehow we’ve missed this for years...

In just a few weeks, Secco is hosting its fifth annual Pierre Paillard Champagne Takeover. Six wines + hors d’oeuvre pairings sounds like our kind of night. Rumor is this might be the last in the series!

Important: it appears Quentin Paillard is pouring from a magnum bottle in this photo.
