VOL. 6  /  GIFTED

Literally everyone is hosting a holiday market this weekend. To save you time, we narrowed the options down to the essential.

The good news is, with all these markets, there is no excuse to be giving amazing, personal gifts this year.

Shop on!

Good

Tidings

First up, ta-da - we've curated our very own market!

This Saturday only, Here is bringing together a fresh line-up of women-owned brands for Good Tidings Market. One. Stop. Shopping. For all the women in your life. And obviously you'll need a little something too.

You'll find us at the brand new shop, Someday, at First and Broad where our host offers a variety of treasured homeware and artisan gifts. Anther has statement jewelry covered, and Strawberry Fields Flower & Finds can help you adorn your home with their gorgeous wreaths, stems and succulents.

You may recognize these names from previous features in our newsletter. We've been saving the final addition to the line-up for a special moment - and this is it. Read on below to learn more about Loose Ends Embroidery.

Come say hi to us, pick up a RIC t-shirt or onesie on sale, and browse our new selection of Kate Magee for Here prints. (Ooo what?!) Belle Isle Moonshine is making custom cocktails too!

Loose

Ends

We’ve been obsessed with Ft. Lonesome, a chain stitch company based out of Austin, TX, for a hot second. So you can imagine how absolutely crazy PUMPED we were when we discovered Loose Ends Embroidery in our very own city.

Trust us, chain stitching isn’t the same as grandma’s embroidery hoop. We’re talking the chicest vintage lettering and tattoo-like illustrations come to life with thread. And really so much more.

Loose Ends is made up of talented embroidery duo Allison Terres and Amber Sykes. You can either buy their designs on patches or work with them to create something entirely custom, be it a patch or a design stitched directly onto your clothing.

At Good Tidings Market, Loose Ends will have patches and will be doing embroidery live in the shop. They are a must-follow. Start digging through your closet now and bring in key pieces to be personalized!

This week, we’ve lined up one opportunity to give thanks and two ways to spend time with family (or take a break from them).

Next week, we’ve got all of your holiday shopping covered. BUT if you’re really itching to start shopping now, check out our little Black Friday deal below.

Thank you for being a member!

Christmas Store

in Church Hill

Every year, the Church Hill Wellness Center opens its “Christmas Store” as a charitable shop for kids. For just $5, parents can take home toys and clothing for their children as Christmas gifts. The money collected from the store is then used as a neighborhood fuel assistance fund for the winter months.

You can support the center by donating warm winter clothing and new children’s games and toys to be offered in the Christmas Store. Gifts for children, ages newborn to 12 years old, are all appreciated. They are currently in great need of toys for 7-10-year-old children.

Miracle

On Cary

The Jasper is rocking its best holiday garb for the season. The cocktail bar will transform into Miracle on Cary Street to offer seasonally-themed cocktails such as the Snowball Old Fashioned and And A Partridge In A Pear Tree. Surely there are a few jokes here about holiday spirits.

Originally a New York City holiday pop-up bar, Miracle is launching more than 50 locations across the country for the 2018 season - we’re obviously most excited for The Jasper’s take!

Sounds like the perfect shopping break to us. See you there!

Taste

On Grove

We were sorry to lose the Westhampton Theater at Libbie and Grove two years ago, but we've been pleasantly surprised by the new development.

Case in point: the opening of Taste. If you've ever been to their locations in Eastern Virginia, then you know. If you've never visited this sandwich shop and market, then this holiday weekend might be the right time for a first visit.

Snag some last-minute Thanksgiving host gifts, and then sit down in the café for one of their signature sandwiches like the Boardwalk or Freemason. We’ve also got our eyes on the Fall special Crab Cake sandwich and the Fall Farmstand salad. Just wait until you try the house dressing...

The changing of the leaves and the arrival of colder weather have triggered in us an early anticipation for the holidays. Or maybe it's that we've been busy plotting a MAJOR holiday shopping party for you!! Initial details are below... (or just click here if you don't want to scroll that far).

Until then, these happenings are sure to spark some fun!

Painting

the City

If you don't know Mickael Broth, aka The Night Owl, you definitely know his work. His murals are woven into Richmond's canvas, from his “Greetings from Richmond” postcard collab with Sure Hand Signs outside Charm School Social Club to his "Bernie Slamders," "Ashen Lady of the James," The Diamond, or even the interiors at Triple Crossing.

Now, he's publishing Murals of Richmond, a hardcover coffee table book documenting our city’s explosion of public art. Order a book now, or better yet, join Broth at ZZQ for his book-release party this Sunday!

While you’re feeling artsy, swing by the Virginia Museum of History & Culture for its “Fresh Paint” exhibit, featuring murals inspired by the history of Virginia.

Say

Bingo

Named for the former bingo hall formerly occupied its space, Bingo Beer Co, an all-in-one arcade, brewery and restaurant, just opened its doors in Scott’s Addition. The restaurant minds behind Comfort, Pasture, Flora and Saison created the ultimate entertainment space for classic multiplayer arcade games and other favs like air hockey and pool.

But with that kind of chef power, they didn't forget to deliver on the food. Expect southern-influenced dishes and small plates. Floating servers allow you to move freely around the bar, gaming section and outdoor area so you can game and eat with ease. Full service.

Who’s up for some friendly competition?
