Scott's Addition

Saturday

Flea market Saturday just got upgraded - and you've got options.

To start, Studio Two Three's Studio Two Flea features more than 50 vendors selling handmade goods, art, housewares and more. Oh, and there will be tarot card readings and a tunnel of love. Normal. Bonus: The event benefits Studio Two Three's darkroom expansion.

Then, take the four-minute walk around the corner to Väsen Brewing, where Riot + Revel paper is wrapping up your choice of Valentine's Day gift at Tapped & Wrapped. Check your V-Day shopping off the list and celebrate with a beer.

Ultimate

Cocktail Bar

Richmond loves craft breweries, indeed. But what we've long been missing was a bonafide cocktail bar. Well, our prayers have been answered, and then some.

With a dream pedigree that includes The Roosevelt and Heritage, The Jasper, in all its vintage-speakeasy-themed glory, is now open. Try the nitro bourbon and ginger -- it's smooth, blending two bourbons, and finishes with a kick from the ginger.

You'll want to hit this new Carytown addition every weekend, perfect for date night, girls' night, any night.

HAPPY

Loving thy neighbor is cool and all, but selfishly we're pumped to have our own outpost of Charlottesville-based running studio, tread HAPPY, now open in the Fan.

This isn't just a group run. Each class works in interval and strength training to the beat of the music. And they're building a community of Richmond runners through outdoor training sessions and SWEAT meet-ups.

The best part: Here. members (that's you) get an exclusive 30% percent off five classes with code: treadhereRVA. See you there!

VOL. 19  /  CULTURE

This week, we're thinking culture. Pop culture, a dash of history balanced with a dance party, and some photography, but a touch more highbrow than your Instagram feed.

Speaking of Instagram, are you following ours? Apparently, the Internet was obsessed with this shot from the weekend.

Let's do this.

Click

It

If good things really take time, then glave kocen gallery's invitational photography exhibit opening on Friday is going to be stellar.

After a four-year hiatus, the fourth edition of "Click" will showcase work from both pro and first-time photographers in Virginia. This isn't just point-and-shoot either. We're talking pinholes, photomontages and something special to do with those historical marker signs you see down South.

For a peek before Friday's receiption, follow glave kocen on Instagram. To go down the rabbit hole, go back for the "Click & Tell" gallery talk on February 17.

Museum

Parties

We're biding our time until peak happy hour returns. Until then, stay warm at VMFA After Hours on Saturday. Attire: museum chic and your dancing shoes.

Kelli Lemon is hosting a party that's mixing in 200 B.C. China with classic R&B and more. We'll be catching our breath in the new dessert and coffee lounge.

Speaking of breaking your new year's resolution, the VMFA is also the venue for Family Lifeline’s decadent benefit, Chocoholic 2018, next week. Indulging feels even better when you're giving back.

Super Bowl

Sunday

We've got recs for all three types of Super Bowl watchers.

You're in it for the game / Embrace the patriotism (Patriots vs. Eagles, anyone?) with burgers. They may be New Zealand-inspired, but Burger Bach's new location on W. Cary St. is the place to be.

Commercials, all day / Game-watchers will get loud during your favorite part, so skip the bar scene and stay in with your fellow ad lovers. Add Mama J's and repeat. This is an ad town, after all.

There's a football game before the JT concert? / Take preemptive measures against the chips and dip and hit up BOHO's new Church Hill spin studio for a midday ride. The theme? Super Bowl Halftime Stars.

VOL. 18  /  REFRESH

Being cooped inside by cold weather got us thinking - our homes are our winter sanctuaries and maybe they could use a little refresh to get us through.

This week's warmer forecast inspired our writing, so read on for greenery and rooftop drinks!

Bridget Beari

Home Store

Is your home giving you more winter blues than the weather? Same. If so, you're in luck. The Bridget Beari Home Store just opened at 1528 W Cary, and their particular strength lies in warm textures. Think throws, pillows, sculptural pieces. Their eponymous line of paints, including hard-to-find metallics, is available for order. If we could only take home their enviable fiddle-leaf fig tree…

If their weekend hours are a little tight for you, consider popping in during the week over your lunch break and picking up at nearby Bombolini or Goatocado on the way.

Terrarium

Training

Another trick to get through to spring: introduce some green at home. Sustainable and seasonless succulents fit the bill this time of year.

Next Thursday, sweet Fan shop Strawberry Fields Flowers & Finds is offering a terrarium-building class. They'll provide all the materials, and you'll leave with a plant that means something and a few pearls of wisdom - like how to keep it alive once you're home.

Lewis Ginter also has a terrarium class later on in February!

Vitals:

Thursday, February 1 / 6-7:30pm strawberryfieldsflowersandfinds.com/product/terrarium-building-workshop

Wednesday, February 28 / 9:30am-12pm lewisginter.org/event/dish-gardens-succulents

Rooftop

Pop-Up

There's a new rooftop game in town. The team at The Graduate is pretending it's spring this week, just like the rest of us. They're opening the Byrd House's rooftop bar Saturday evening only. No need for heat lamps, thanks to warm temps.

Embrace the fake spring vibe by picking a fresh and fruity cocktail -- we're moving on from hot chocolate and eggnog.

If you're ready to mentally skip straight to summer bonfires, grab a burger from the grill and a S'mores Nightingale Ice Cream Sandwich, The Graduate's signature flavor.
