VOL. 53  /  BIRTHDAY!

Dear Member (that’s you),

Today is our one-year anniversary. Whether you’ve been a ride-or-die since Volume 1 or you just signed up this week, thank you so much for being a part of Here. Thank you for being hungry to explore our awesome city.

It’s our birthday, so we’ve got presents and cake. Seriously.

For you, the ultimate guide to celebrating birthdays in Richmond is below.

For us, we wanted to humbly ask you for a little present. Will you please share Here. with some of your fellow Richmond-obsessed friends? If you forward this email (copy hi@hereweekly.com) or share this Facebook post, we will enter you to win one of five $20 gift certificates to Shyndigz. Thank you in advance!

None of this would be possible without Ali's design genius, Kate's eye for photography and our small army of interns keeping us on track.

THANK YOU!! We appreciate you. More opportunities for cake below; read on!

Celebrate!

RVA

First stop on our birthday ideas tour: Celebrate! RVA.

What better way to celebrate your own birthday than to celebrate a child's birthday? We are fully enamored, head-over-heels crazy about the mission of Celebrate! RVA. This non-profit gives disadvantaged children a fun, safe, memorable birthday party.

Their next big party/fundraiser isn’t until March, but when your birthday rolls around, you could sponsor a child’s birthday for just $15. Or get a group of friends together to make birthday cards for the kids. Donate party supplies; volunteer. There are so many options. You can even enter a raffle to win a car, all proceeds benefitting Celebrate! RVA.

Street Art

Sprint

Another non-traditional birthday activity! Invite your friends to go on a run. But with art and beer.

Every Tuesday evening through the end of October, Sportsbackers is treating Richmond as a living gallery as they guide a run past some of our city’s sprawling street art and murals. The four-mile run begins and ends at a brewery or local watering hole, while looping through a neighborhood or two to show you the sights. Every week they tackle a new part of town.

By the time you’ve finished those four miles, you’ll have earned that celebratory beer!
