VOL. 3   /  OUR WORLD

For Here, we have grander ideas than only covering organized events. We want to turn you on to moments of exploration in Richmond.

We'll also be creating our own happenings, small and easy at first. First up: October 21, 1-3PM. Details next week...

All adventures are more fun with a friend or three. This week, will you forward Here. to a few curious, awesome people and invite them to sign up?

Three Nights,

Three Courses, $30

German-and-then-some restaurant Metzger is consistently inventive and delicious. Don’t just take our word for it; read Bill Addison’s effusive Eater review.

As if you needed more reasons to go, the Church Hill favorite just launched a $30, three-course prix fixe menu, available every Tuesday - Thursday.

If you go à la carte, beware: it’s easy to over-order. Do it anyways! And do not, under any circumstance, skip dessert.

Rhythms

at the River

This weekend, the Richmond Folk Festival takes over Brown’s Island and the Tredegar riverfront. To break down the long list of performers, watch the brief performance videos provided on the Festival site for each act. We are particularly excited for A Step Ahead’s step team competition and flamenco from Corazón de Granada.

The list of food trucks is just as long, so balance returning to a familiar option – River City Wood Fire, Hungry Turtle, Happy Empanada – with something new.

Home(made) School

There’s nothing quite like homemade.

This Fall, Whisk owner and executive pastry chef Morgan Botwinick will share her hard-earned secrets to baked goods over a limited number of classes. Sunday's croissant class is already booked solid, so try bread making or cookie baking. Morgan also invited a wine specialist to lead a wine and cheese pairing class. These will all be handy skills, come the holidays.

Remember: you’re only being a good student when you taste everything. And ask to see the croissant freezer!
